Many of us are first taught that we are sinful and thus undeserving of God’s generous forgiveness and love - because we start the story with Genesis 3. But there is another theological stream that begins to tell the story of salvation from a different starting point: Genesis 1-2. It roots an understanding of human nature not first in “the fall,” but first in being created in the image of God and being declared by God to be ‘very good’.
